Join the YFPA and Dr. Andrew Dibb as we tour the Bryn Athyn Historic District. Located just north of Philadelphia, Bryn Athyn is a sprawling complex begun by industrialist John Pitcairn in the late 19th century. The tour will visit the family homes of Cairnwood and Glenclairn (the latter includes an amazing collection of medieval ecclesiastical art) and Bryn Athyn Cathedral - a Gothic-style cathedral built by Pitcairn and his son Raymond. The cathedral, which took decades to complete, was built in part by craftsmen using medieval techniques. Speaking of construction techniques, the tour will also visit the workshops of Bryn Athyn College’s Building Arts Program - the only BFA in building arts in the US!
The college is accesible via the Route 24 bus and the Bethayres Station on the West Trenton Regional Rail Line. Parking is also available on site.
